When I look back at the past four months it’s crazy to think how fast time has gone by. There have been many experiences from the summer, some bad and many others good, but all of them are ones to look back on that can be used to improve myself. Everything I’ve done working at Grant Ranch has been a learning experience, whether that’s been dealing with cattle, dealing with equipment, or operating something new.

Hard work, patience, adaptivity, resilience, etc. are all qualities that are used on a daily basis for farmers. There are many good qualities that are tested while working on a farm, keeping and strengthening them are the key to bettering yourself and your work.

Getting to spend the summer outdoors in fresh air and seeing my hard work paid off in the things around me, makes all the early mornings, late nights, bruises, callouses, and sweat worth it. All the memories that summer brought will be looked back on fondly as I return to university.
